Scary

This week's Illustration Friday is..."Scary"
'Tis the season ;)
Here's a little darling I conjured up recently (you may have seen him float by on the
children's literature magazine's site, Underneath the Juniper Tree).
He prefers the bald-headed baby variety ;)

  1. Hello Elizabeth:
Scary by name and scary by nature. He really does succeed in being exceedingly alarming and with those deep set eyes, long fingers and dome shaped head comes close to translating into a skeleton.

  3. Elizabeth....Halloween scary is nice, but your scary is really very scary! How can I ever return to your site? ;-)
Are you laughing when you've drawn this or professionally keep your cool? :-)

  4. In this case it is hard to say which one is more scary, the doll or the doll eater ;-) Even the typography scares me, well done!

  14. Yikes! You really dug deep into your psyche for this one. But I've got news for doll eater; in horror pics the doll usually bites back!

  18. Hey, well this has resonance. It has the hallmarks of Nosferatu, that emotive halo around it that makes it more than just a bunch of pencil strokes on a page, there's some kind of archetypical fear here that you have tapped into. Maybe it's the teeth, the yawning chasm of the mouth, the fear we human's have of being eaten...?

  20. A very creepy illustration, I think because your 'doll' is a baby doll and not a Barbie! Great work.

  23. Now that is REALLY creepy! I can hardly stand to look at it and think about those poor innocent dolls (to say nothing of the children!). I think this is the scariest picture I've seen on this topic.

  24. whhhoooo he is a scary chap, lock up your dolls I say! Even though he is mean and its mean - he has tons of character in his face. I love it in a scary kind of way...if you know what I mean.

  25. Heisann!

Uff da, as the Norwegians say in USA!
This is an unpleasant situation for all dolls.
    Scary!
Have a nice time off ;:OD)

  27. This is funny, I know a Nosferatu who would eat dolls for breakfast if he could!;)

  28. Wonderful. The vampire looks just like Klaus Kinski, and the doll looks just like one of mine (but it has the head on)....
