These are a couple of studies I did for an assignment for our upcoming Western Washington
SCBWI conference. I've got a busy rest-of-the-week, so stay tuned and I will pop back on next week and explain the back story. It's turned out to be a very fun exercise! Gotta run!
I give you...
Mr.Tiger and Mr. Rhino:
I like 'em both, but that Rhino-Schlub is the best anthropomorphic I've seen in awhile. Cheers, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteMr Rhino-Schlub :) is terribly flattered that you think so. Thanks!
DeleteI do love Mr. Rhino!-Carolyn
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carolyn!
DeletePoor Mr. Rhino having to wear office attire. I can feel the wild spirit in him slowly dying. Heh...
ReplyDeleteYeah...that office attire will do it to you every time.
DeleteAre they cousins? Looks like maybe they could be related. I like Mr Rhino’s pants (up to his armpits! LOL)
ReplyDeleteMr Rhino thinks cousin Tiger should put some clothes on ;)
DeleteI like the character of these :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann :)
DeleteI'm very intrigued! I like these characters and I want to know their story!! Mr Rhino is ...well I'm not sure what to say..I think I've met him before!!! Possibly in a centrelink office (Australian unemployment office)!!
ReplyDeleteMr Rhino does have that bureaucrat look to him...
DeleteI'm glad you are intrigued, Claire.
Look forward to it...
ReplyDeletethere looks like a whole personality in Mr. Tiger, too! (Not of the swallowed sort - 'the whole history behind the character' sort.)
xo
Yes, Katy...that wild Mr Tiger is the focus of the story... Stay tuned!
DeleteMr. Rhino doesn't care about your opinions - he's retiring next month.
ReplyDeleteSpot on!
DeleteYou are sincerely gifted.
ReplyDeleteSo are you :)
DeletePS awww...thank you! xo
Such a great character Mr. Rhino is starting to feel, especially with those restricting clothes! I'm curious to see the differences between the two already!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly have two different approaches to life! More on this later :)
DeleteLove them! Mr. Rhino is just perfect, with his hang-y down arms and his outfit. And I love Mr. Tiger's contrapposto.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carin!
DeleteOoh! Interesting! Can't wait to hear the back story :)
ReplyDeleteI will post it soon. Thanks, Susanna!
DeleteBeautiful.......looking forward to it..:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rajesh!
DeleteMy son and I think maybe you asked them to pose just a bit too long for you... a sense of discomfort and keeping still and being watched is lurking behind those forced polite positions....but you must admire their hugely generous spirits for doing it at all. We love them and they made us very happy this sunny morning; thank you!!
ReplyDeleteAxxx
Annie--I am extremely happy that these two made you two happy! Thank YOU!
DeleteTIGER, tiger, burning bright
ReplyDeleteIn the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
Well... Elizabeth seems to have framed him, although he's not very 'fearful'. Mr Rhino, on the other hand, seems to feel very haughty and feeling in need of poetic recognition!
Can't wait to hear more.
Thanks, John. Well put. Of course, one can never go wrong with Blake :)
DeleteOh, Mr. Rhino's outfit is killing me! Hahahahaha. These are fun characters!
ReplyDeleteGlad he gave you a chuckle, Bella!
DeleteLovely sketches both of them with two strong characters. My favourite is Mr. Rhino. He seems to want to keep his nose high while feeling superior to Mr. Tiger, who looks a little off today. Those light strokes are really lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Otto. I think Mr. Rhino, with those proboscises, has no choice but to keep his head up ;)
DeleteBusy is the bomb for a starving artist. (like me) I'm only slightly simmering. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon...
Deletemay your simmer start boiling and then...BAM ;)
If that rhino in overalls came knocking at my door, I would buy everything he had to sell.
ReplyDeleteL. O. L. !!!!!!!!
DeleteThese are fabulous looking characters.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue!
DeleteThey are great
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephen!
DeleteI was going to ask why Mr Tiger is in his fur, and Mr Rhino is in a shirt and tie. Mr Tiger looks very content, but poor Mr Rhino looks like someone whose espresso is weak and whose train was late and is having a very bad day.
ReplyDeleteGood "take" on Mr. Rhino, Rhissanna! I hope to get a post up soon with a description of the story.
DeleteGreat characters! Love the see (and hear) more of them.
