Flight of Fancy...or Something

I'm doodling a little too much. It's a great way to avoid what I really should be doing.
I wonder how this one's going to end...

  1. I would imagine having a little spaceship flying around in your brain would be distracting - probably for the best that you committed it to paper! CUTE!

  2. Snowfall in a coat--awesome! Glad you are doodling, not should-ing :)

    1. Haha. Should-ing. I like that- and I like that you interpret the dots on his coat as snow. Awesome!

  3. Oh dear...

Anyway, doodling is important! Doodling is how we get our best ideas. Without doodling, there'd BE no ideas!

    1. I need to put my ideas on hold then, and get to working on, well, my ideas ;)

  4. This does not look like it will end well. Hopefully little rocket pilot will u-turn at the last minute. Little cloud is very sweet though :)

  6. Ahhh...but it is in those doodles where you find out WHERE it will end! Oh Elizabeth, and you say you are blown away by MY little expressions? YOU ROCK. I am literally working on the level of artistry where I left off as a child 45 years ago. I never developed my drawing skills but now I want to develop my English writing skills (I learned how to write in French before I learned to write in English, literally).

THANK YOU for your visit and I love how you have broken the walls of this image and are ready to take us on the other side of the wall. BRAVA! Anita

  7. This is great! Such a surreal sense of humour! And I love the delicate shadows on the wall, they really add a sense of depth.

    1. Thanks, Jane! A well placed shadow can make or break an image, methinks :)

  9. How can you call this a doodle?? It's got so much already. I too hope that rocket can turn quickly or it could end in a nasty hole in the wall.

    1. It's truly very often what I would really rather be doing. Glad you like, Mr. MacG.

  11. What a cool guy! I love the two-tone coat and bright spots of red! Such a fun, surreal and mysterious scene! I personally think the spaceship and cloud are going to wink back into their own plane of reality any moment, and thus the ship will avoid a crash. It's just a blip in the matrix! Or something!

    1. Cindy, you have a very active imagination (but I already knew that from seeing YOUR art)! Thanks!

  12. Doodling a little too much? Pshaw! Never! :)

This is going to end up with a nice big hole in the wall and a way to escape those four white walls into freeeeeedom!!!! I think that gangster in France who blasted his way out would have appreciated this. Cool coat, dude. That's rockin'.

  13. That is cool! A rocket ship on the wall, the surprised look of a child, I'm wondering where this story could go with such a nifty visual setup.

  14. Well, it is all quiet obvious to me that you have overdone reading books on space travel, Elizabeth. This figure is, of course, the moon. He has that pale, round moon-like face and his profile matches the 'Face on the Moon'. His coat isn't snow fall, it is the universe, blue with white stars. We are on our mission to Mars, in our red space shuttle, passing the moon, who, spoiled as he is with our many moon-mission, feels passed by. Our travels are based on our rock-fast belief that our universe is big and expanding. Little do we know we can actually hit a wall.

  15. Instead of the house at the end of the street. It is the house at the end of the galaxy. The rocket just vanishes behind the wall. I'm not sure what happens to the cute dude.

    1. I'm sure he will be fine. I love the idea of it being a "house at the end of the galaxy." Vanishing rockets are good, too...much less messy ;)

  16. The space-ship will go through the wall, and open the gateway to another dimension. :) I LOVE science fiction!
I thought doodling was good for artists???

    1. Perhaps it's subliminal-- I'm ready for transport! SciFi is good-- and even better when combined with that-which-is-good-for-artists.

  17. This is, of course, the famous case of the, 'Returning Rocket', that was investigated by the famous physicist, Professor Goodie Twoshoes. The picture depicts the moment in which the rocket emerged through the wormhole causing a rain cloud to shed rain over the prof's new coat, and then ... but you all know how this ended anyway, so I'll not bore you!

    1. I very much like that you have the rocket coming instead of going, John.
Dr. G. Twoshoes will figure it out and make his mark, no doubt, once he gets over the fact that his new coat is now covered in wormhole rain ;)
