Dog Daze of Summer

I've been a bad blogger lately--both as a post-er and reader-comment-er.  I don't know why I always have this idea that summer will be "time off," only to have it be packed with tons of activities NOT related to vacation!  My biggest challenge lately has been dealing with my dear old, OLD, dog. We just pulled him through a medical crisis. I thought for sure it was the end, but the old guy rallied!  Finger's crossed for some more quality time for him!
Meanwhile . . .
here are a couple more "daily" (well, almost) sketches from my Facebook page.  Doing these little ditties has been fun, and done when I really SHOULD have been doing something else.
It's obvious I've had the dog on my mind ;)

So, dear blog friends, I hope to get caught up soon.  Have a great rest-of-the-summer!

    1. Thanks, Anita! I did the dog painting on a particularly hot (and not at all typical for Seattle) summer day not long ago. Dog daze on both fronts!

  7. What a sweet dog! Oh my goodness. We've had some rough times with our little guy too, as his second rear knee went out after the first was finally getting back to normal. But they are such troopers! Best wishes for many more happy days with your pup!

I love those monsters pulling on their leashes. And the dog is just too cute!

  9. So happy to hear you have more quality time with the pooch. They are priceless friends. Enjoy.
Our little Sookie the evil genius reminds me of the little orange critter on the leash in your art, always pulling at the leash and full of endless energy.
Happy Sunday to you. Don't feel bad about not blogging, we all deserve a break now and then. We will still be here :-)

  10. Oh noes! Hate hearing about family pets in peril. Hope the old guy is doing better by now! If our cat could type, I'm sure she'd have a rousing Patton-esque speech for yer canine. :-)

    1. Thanks, E. At 15+ he is definitely living on borrowed time. But he is such a trooper, and is the biggest sweetheart--not a mean bone in his body. When the time comes, we will miss him terribly. My cats, however, will just shug and say, "Meh." ;)

I understand what you say about summer and life revs up as opposed to slacking off. I enjoy your images on Facebook.

  13. My office mate is an old finch who lost power of flight several months ago. I cut his his egg shell to help him hatching after he as an egg was abandoned by parents. I appreciate his effort to carry on, every day. : ) One side of his body is paralysed.

Love your monsters. One of my dogs is a bit like the orange one! : D Nice to read your post again!

  17. Poor ol' poochie. He might like to watch some Popeye cartoons, and fix him a bowl of ice cream to eat while watching. That's what your supposed to get while recuperating from a medical crises.

  20. Good luck Old dog...I'm a dog lover so I'm feeling this too. We lost our 14 year old dog Hank a couple of years ago and two months later we got our now two year old Mungo...It helped everyone through. Your Spikey family and pets are great...probably my favourites of yours so far..

  21. Dear Elizabeth,
glad to hear your dog is well. And the drawings are again so cute (but also more than that) that I am rhapsodizing over them.
The summer's dog days were hindering me too to blog or comment - though I don't regret it, I call it living the hot life.

I was just put through my saddest week, putting my 13 year old chocolate lab to sleep. It's so hard to explain the loyalty and trust between people and their pets.
