hello Elizabeth: Well, it is definitely warming up here, so Henny is doing the right thing by dusting off her bikini and getting her beach ball ready!! And, what a striking sight she is, complete with celebrity sunglasses, bucket and spade and, of course, her itsy bitsy teeny weeny pink polka dot bikini!!!!! May the sun shine....!!!
It was getting warm here and then a blast of winter wind blew us back, yesterday. It was a teeny bit scary, it was so powerful. Hope Henny stays out of the gusts ...
I'd say Henny is a little more anxious for summer than spring, but it does pay to be ready. We're expecting massive thunderstorms and flooding here in Oklahoma for the next three days. I wait with trepidation and am sadly not ready.
So sweet!!! Love the detail of the tane in her arms. :D Here in Portugal we are having one of the driest winters ever. We are having warm weather and sun during winter months and we needed some rainny days ...
The weather is not really Henny's biggest problem; She's a chicken in a bikini with flesh-colored human arms for crying out loud. Will there be others like her at the beach to play beachball with? I hope so.
I walked the dog in short sleeves today, yahoo! (Chicago area) Love the bikini and matching hat! And a perfect lime green bucket fashion accessory with many uses!
Here in the northeast, it's as if we're in the thick of spring. And I'm here by way of Suze. Enjoying your wonderful illustrations and signing on as your next follower. :)
It's kinda wintery down here in N.California, too....hopefully not for much longer! I won't show this to May and Charlotte, or they'll want bikinis, too!
Henny does look a little chilly, but wow, I love her whole stance and cherubic quality..she's looking like a surly cherub! How awesome is that?! Great work, Elizabeth..hope you have a fantastic weekend!!
Hang in there Henny...it will come, I promise!!! But, for the meantime, best put your sweet swimsuit away and bring out your galoshes once again...we're supposed to get snow next weekend! :p xo J~
Another fun side of Hennie is revealed! I am presenting an award to you for your inspiring work. Details here http://mardispeth.blogspot.com/2012/03/lin-gave-me-this-award.html
When I first saw this, I laughed and laughed and laughed. Not only is Henny absolutely adorable in her itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny pinky polka-dot bikini, but so optimistic and hopeful. The sweet can-do spirit of a hen that I am growing to admire! but, also, we were enjoying summer weather in March - when we're typically buried deep in snow - looking out the window and sighing with depressingly knitted eyebrows. I had been out in the garden all day and was too tired to put two words together....and you had snow. Today, even though the grass is lovely green and there are beyond buds - baby leaves - on the trees and small critters busy, busy, busy....it's snowing. It's not sticking, though - just looking like a beautiful snow globe. I think, though, like Henny, I want my summery spring back! =]
and, on your latest post....even though I love the rich detail of these drawings - I think Henny is absolutely perfectly adorable in your own inimitable style. I mean that with a glowing compliment - you've got a perfect thing going with that sweet gal! =] =] =]
Oh, but, I forgot....thank you for introducing to this new illustrator. I just love children's books and illustrations - just love the magically fanciful dream land of feeling that they bring! =]
Seattle Times Twitter reported hail, thunder and lightning. Over here in the SE corner we had sun and wind. Always wind. 30 degree mornings.

She's really rocking those polka dots!
ReplyDeleteWith the funky weather we've been having over here in California, I long for swimsuit weather, even if I do look like a chicken wearing it.
ReplyDeleteOh Henny! You gave me a much needed giggle! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt's started to warm up here but Heny wouldn't like it - dust in the air although luckily the sandstorm didn't hit properly.
ReplyDeleteCute pic

ReplyDeleteHere in the SE, I fear we may already be slipping into summer. Love the drawing.
