So here it is, right side up...
...also, a little painted sketch of Henny with her bumbershoot--not quite as classic as a Zwerger,
but Henny is always trying ;)
PS Come to think of it, maybe it's a goose but, being a city-kid...what do I know?
Henny IS, however, a chicken :)

They are both lovely.
ReplyDeleteWith FB if you open pic, then at bottom you have a buttom Options, click that then you can rotate the duck.
I like them both quite a lot--the opaque-on-brown-paper is really cool!
ReplyDeleteOh... I love your art... always :-)
ReplyDeleteI love them both, even if they are so different...and Henny is just so funny and adorable.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I, too, love the effect of the white on brown paper. And you've really captured a sweet gentleness in the eye of the duck.
ReplyDeleteOh, just what I needed this morning. The colors, the texture, the feel—charming and comforting. Made me smile. :)
ReplyDelete(And I'll bet they look just as darling sideways. ;))
So lovely! Really wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic! I really like that effect on brown paper. I keep saying that so I will have to try some. The duck is really beautiful. And I love Henny's teeny red purse!
ReplyDeleteThey are both great but Henny is fantastic:)
ReplyDeleteBest Henny yet! :)
ReplyDeleteSideways! It must mean something! But what?
ReplyDeleteDuck is emerging while Henny knows exactly who she is.
ReplyDeleteOooh, they are both gorgeous with their textures and shadows. But I see Henny has the advantage here. Water may roll off a duck's back, but you'll definitely look more fashionable carrying a bumbershoot. And HA! I so love her teeny tiny purse! Always handy for carrying a light snack.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. And as a pair, they illustrate your range...fun!
ReplyDeleteI just love Henny’s ‘ensemble’!
ReplyDeleteBoth great in their own way!!
ReplyDeleteextremely trying, I would say. Just look at the little madam! Who does she think she is?
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh.. the Henny Penny Parchment series. I like!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I'm lovin' the change up in style. It's always nice to creatively stretch out sometimes :-)
ReplyDeleteI love them both! Amazing work.
ReplyDeleteSuch a tiny purse! Obviously the hen does not need all the filler I carry. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteThese are both terrific. I love how they both "belong" to the paper and pop off it. The Henny one would make a great print!
ReplyDeleteLove them both, but my favorite is the hen - tiny little legs, tiny purse and big round body - cute.
ReplyDeleteI love ducks but can't resist Henny looking like that!
ReplyDeleteSuch a contrast between the two images, yet equally charming ... the realistic one on a kitchen wall would be sweet. Will you tell us about your process? Did you stain the paper brown? Is the white media goauche? I so love Lizbeth Zwerger's work too.
ReplyDeleteLisbeth Zwerger ? Well thanks for that heads up! Superb. And these two of yours - they show a beautiful confident hand - I like the duck coming out of the paper - there's something about an element that merges with the support - it's like its being born into another world, it suggests something is beyond and outside what we see!
ReplyDeleteHeh, I will have to find out thedifference between ducks and geese :)
see you
mind you I cannot tell the differences between peaches and nectarines - but I can tell the difference between bananas and water melons - watermelons are yell...
The goose is great, but I like funny Henny better.
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of Lisbeth Zwerger too.
I'm such a big fan of Henny, she's great! I love how the colors stand out on the brown background. Nice.
ReplyDeletei am actually reading the wizrad of Oz illustrated by Lisbeth Zwerger - it’s so breathtakingly beautiful... i love her work.
ReplyDeleteAnd i am having a bit of a crush on Henny’s handbag here!!
I love the chicken! So cute with the umbrella!
ReplyDeleteFunny chicken I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour cute Henny could join my 5 little chicks I got yesterday. So small and adorable. They are in the house in a large box with a heat lamp on them. I'm almost sorry they grow so fast. My ranch hand just tore down my goose house. No more geese.Geese are usually not as serene as your beautiful picture.
ReplyDeletehenny is delightful! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHenny has great taste in fashion!
ReplyDeletelove her little purse :D
I had trouble with picture orientation and size when I posted from my tablet. From my laptop I seem to do fine.
ReplyDeleteI love both of these. You are so good at both realism and make believe. When I grow up I will draw as good as you do. I'll probably grow up when I turn 100.
I thought I left you a message ages ago but I think I must have clicked off without veryifying it with the word thingo, I think I do that a lot... :0
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, my feelings havent changed - I love both your girls and your work! its always a joy to visit your Pages.
Lovely! And also the brown paper you used for both drawings.
ReplyDeleteHenny is amazing!
Lisbeth Zwerger, the illustrator's illustrator. She's one of my faves. Love the white birds on brown paper, and Henny's full of personality!
