ooh. that is a marvellously awful, well-executed picture. I shall take it that that is her nasty older brother playing with his rubber knife and collection of vintage plastic skulls.
HI Elizabeth, I LOVE your site, and you've inspired to start sketching again myself. Also, wanted to let you know I showed your site to several of my inner city middle school kids who have some artistic talent (we're talking graffiti art lol). I think you've got some new fans, especially fans of Henny. trish Loganberrylane.blogspot.com
I love how easily you can jump from the charming to the macabre...we all have those light and dark sides, but most of us don't communicate them so readily!
You know....I think that the little girl is waaaaaay scarier than the little boy! He just thinks he's so on top of things but.....eeep! He has no idea what kind of serious pigtails he's in for!!! still chuckling about this....
Now, I just want to see your silhouette....you don't have a double chin and long nose, perhaps, do you, hmmmmm???
Hello Elizabeth: Well, we all meet our match in life at some point or another. That nasty little boy seems to have amassed quite a collection of scalps in his lair....but this sweet-looking little girl could be the one to 'do him in'.Is that a revolver we see behind her back....?
Thanks for dropping by my blog. I'm glad you did because I am loving this drawing! I have to say that it brings a bit of deja vu from my past. 'Nuff said.
This is *exactly* what my young mind thought of each time I made that long descent into my grandmothers basement while on family visits o so may years ago...
What a horrible image - but nicely drawn of course.
ReplyDeleteGosh! I really love this picture, Elizabeth! I do think that both the girl and the killer are spooky. Are they a "suspense" to each other? :D

She really doesn't know what is waiting for her!
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the topic!
Okay, now I'm hearing the soundtrack for the bathroom scene in Psycho.
ReplyDeleteThe silhouetted 'victim du jour' is great. Nicely done!
Awww... the jump from light and fun to - dark and fun? Nice one.
ReplyDeletei can imagine a creepy soundtrack to go along with this great draw :D
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh! So scary and suspenseful! Really great illustration. I'm so glad I don't have a basement.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeletePoor girl! The unsuspecting soul goes into the basement to pick up a skull to play with ...... not knowing what she will find here!
Elements of Hitchcock's 'Psycho' here. Very well drawn.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Kind of plays into my personal nightmares, but still, great answer to "suspense"!
ReplyDeleteEeee - gad! That is suspenseful and quite a bit spooky too! Hope she doesn’t go down there.....
ReplyDeleteBeautifully illustrated, I can feel the suspense
OOOH! Scary stuff - think this is why I don't have a basement!
ReplyDeleteLove your illustration work and your blog. Thanks for your comment too... :)
I think that the girl is scarier than the boy. He doesn't know what's coming, and neither do we! Suspenseful!!
ReplyDeleteYou have really nailed this week's topic. I think I'm going to have bad dreams tonight.
ReplyDeleteWow this is a bit dark but still made me laugh.
