Urban

A happy coincidence that the topic this week for Illustration Friday is, "Urban," and I happen to be working on a piece that has a bit of city in it.  What do you think?

  1. I love the sweet, fragrant gusts and the happy snap of the pinnacle flags -- even at this distance.

    Gorgeous and uplifting.

    2. Keepin' an eye out.

Yesterday, my family was in a beautiful indie bookstore where they prominently featured illustrated books and I told my husband I couldn't wait to see Henny among them.

I almost can't imagine it...almost ;) It still seems so far off...but at least S&S has it up on the radar:

  4. Oh my, THIS IS WONDERFUL! I love how you combined the "magical" element of the castles and flags, with the straight and angular feel of a bustling modern city. Brilliant my friend! HAPPY DAY! Anita

  6. What do I think? Well, at the moment, my brain is overloaded and I can't think but, Elizabeth - I FEEL this for sure! Takes us through the looking glass, it does!

    1. Katy! I hope your brain has settled down...no doubt it is filled with planning your next beautiful photograph. I'm very pleased that this outtake of the painting transported you. Makes my day :)

  7. Very nice, Elizabeth. And so suitable at the beginning of spring, with that one flower blooming to announce that cold, strong wind soon leaving the picture.

I like it too how you try to confuse us with two very New Yorkish new buildings in this otherwise medieval hill top village. I see Tuscany, London, and even a very modern glassy 'Museum of Art', bit Guggenheimish.

Elizabeth, ones again, you will provoke a lot of comments! Job well done, I say.

  11. Beth, I love your interpretation of "urban". It looks like a fairy tale city, confined and isolated from the freshness of Nature.
Hmm ... guess you can tell, I don't like cities that much. :)

  12. Ooh, I love this. I think you've distilled my favorite quality of cities: the sense of beckoning and promise. I love how all of your pictures beckon me into their story (last post included--wonderful!). Very gratifying to think they have real stories attached, and that some day I might learn more about them!
