I've set the stage, so now I am looking forward to what you think--since you guys are so clever and funny with your interpretations! Please comment on any and all :)
The Moon is annoyed at the Soul of an Irate Somebody, while little stars twinkle as Big Birdie wonders what Little Birdie finds so interesting. Meanwhile, Mr. Stripey Socks launches a few baubles. |
Mr. Parrot Pants swoops in for a closer look at Mr. Hudson Bay Blanket, while Random Birdie looks on. Little Critter wonders what Big Critter is doing. |
The last page: self-explanatory :) |
It's so very late, here. I came for a bedtime story but have nothing clever to say butt you're right! That is 'the end'! =D Now, I'm going to sleep with a huge smile on my face (and the probability of strangely wonderful....wait....wonderfully strange dreams!)
ReplyDelete'night,'night! =]
Wonderful, Elizabeth! LOVE ‘The End’! Have a good trip (pack warm clothes, NYC is COLD!)
ReplyDeletenice playful and colorful world with a great round end! Good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteHello Elizabeth:
ReplyDeleteWe have been away so long and have missed your wonderful drawings. Such an ambitious project and here you are at the end. What a relief but also an amazing achievement.
Your 'characters' are so cleverly and beautifully drawn, the sparsity of line and colour which you employ to convey such a range of emotions and personalities is quite outstanding. Mr Hudson Bay Blanket is a treasure and rather reminds us of a more colourful, rainbow version of the Dalai Lama. Just what thoughts are running through his head we wonder?
Although late in the day, we wish you a most joyous and prosperous New Year!!
What a busy girl you are!! All very good preparations to do!
ReplyDeleteI, like the parrot, am coveting that Hudson's Bay blanket - would be a perfect wrap for a cold winter's day like today! (-22C / -8F here as I type.)
Some ends are good ;)
ReplyDeleteLizzie, you are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI wish you so much success in all that you are preparing for. I trust you will keep us posted on how the conference goes?
Congrats on finishing the sketchbook--best wishes for the conference :)
ReplyDeleteMore wonderfully happy drawings! My favorite has to be the one with Mr. Parrot Pants and Mr. Bay Blanket and Random Birdie, and the two critters. All such great characters, with lovely touches of color. Excellent job completing your Sketch Book! It turned out to be more than I could manage in the time allotted (and my anxiety about the whole thing) but I may give it another go in an upcoming series.
ReplyDeleteGreat characters! Enjoy the conference!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love all! Your characters always have that ability to nudge a little smile, even on cranky days. Best of luck on the conference, Liz. I have no doubt you'll do wonderfully. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch likable characters! The conference sounds fun! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThis really is all so wonderful! I love all your drawings and Hudson Bay Blanket guy is such a stolid guy as he checks out Mr. Parrot Pants zooming in on him.
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the conference Elizabeth!
very unique style drawings that you have made for this sketchbook...Good luck with it,
ReplyDeleteI think you/it will be very successful!!
Love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time at SCBWI. I know you'll be radiating whimsy & delight everywhere you go!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of today's lot is the Soul of an Irate Somebody. :-D
Congratulations on finishing your sketchbook, Elizabeth! One thing I love about these is the restrained, perfect little gems of color that you use. Have a wonderful time at the conference; I'll be eager to hear all about it!

Your sketchbook project is looking so amazing Elizabeth! I am loving it. I especially like the launching of baubles on the top page.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to develop the storyline further, i.e. answering some of the questions?
Best of luck with your work and the conference; you deserve fame and fortune.
I LOVE Mr. Parrot Pants. Yer killin' me with this stuff. What are you, some kind of creative genius??
ReplyDeleteThe self-explanatory mooning of End Guy is made all the more intriguing by Gator Guy's haunting image. Brilliant!
Oh, you didn't plan that??
Haha, love the last page.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing your sketchbook! I'm working towards the deadline for the sketchbook project, too. I also find it hard to scan and clean the pages as they are sort of thin. But that, of course, is also the charm of it. I love your dreamy illustrations, real beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDelicate and poetic creatures! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I esp. love Little Critter character and of course, the ending character!!! TOO CUTE!:)
