  1. Love it. I'd know your style anywhere, Elizabeth.

They cut down two huge pine trees in my neighborhood yesterday that were a crow hangout. Not a fan of crows but they probably had nests in those trees. Wonder what they'll do now? Could you imagine coming home to find someone took your home away?

  2. I wonder if he wants to fly off too, or will he just watch them til they disappear and then get on with his work? Possibly the latter, but images stay with you....

  3. I GOT SCARED WHEN I SAW the title of your post on my sidebar! I thought YOU were saying "farewell" to blogging...I hope that is not the case! Anyhow, your illustration is lovely my dear. Good to see you again! Anita

  5. Hi Beth.
This image is so poignant. It illustrates exactly how I feel when the barn swallows leave in the fall. But they just came back last week, so all is good!

  9. I was looking at your illustration and trying to think of the word to describe that sad look in his eyes...but it wasn't sad...then I saw Cindy's comment..."wistful". It's a beautiful illustration that tells so much story.

  10. Spot on how I feel, listening to the geese flying south over the house in the dark in the fall.

    1. I know the feeling. But maybe they're coming instead of going. And maybe he's worried they're going to eat his crops ;)

  14. How unfair. Some birds get to fly away. And some are stuck working on the farm. Ha!

  17. Some people think evolution is a good thing, but mutating while your friends stay the same can be pretty lonely!

  18. Farewell or good riddance?...this farmer doesn't have the expression that he is saying good riddance...maybe they were visitors and they had a good time eating the seeds and worms together.
